Is there an iPhone app that summarizes meetings and lists the to-dos?
Yes. Transcribe records a meeting, transcribes it on your iPhone and, with Pro on an Apple Intelligence iPhone, writes a summary with key points and a list of action items. It needs iPhone 15 Pro or newer (or an iPad with an M1 chip or newer) with Apple Intelligence turned on.

How the options compare
- Otter (cloud service): Otter's pricing page lists automated summaries with action items in its plan comparison, and its features page lists speaker name identification, which Transcribe lacks. It is a cloud service: its privacy policy says it collects audio recordings you provide and uses cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services.
- Writing your own to-dos from a transcript: Works on any phone. Transcribe's free tier gives you the full transcript on every iPhone, and you can pick out the actions yourself.
Where Transcribe fits
After you stop recording, Transcribe produces a recap with key points and to-dos, using Apple's on-device Foundation Models, so the meeting is not sent to a server. It detects whether a recording is a meeting, lecture or interview, adds chapters to long recordings, and can draft a follow-up email from the summary and action items.
Ask AI answers questions such as what was decided, using only the recording. For recurring meetings, a Since last time recap compares with the previous one. All of these AI features need Pro and a supported device.
Honest limits: on an iPhone without Apple Intelligence you still get unlimited recording and a full transcript, but no summary. Summaries are only as good as the audio, and no speaker is named in the result, so check owners of action items before you send them.
What it costs
Transcribe is free to download. Unlimited recordings, with no time limit, and full on-device transcription are free. Pro adds export, encrypted backup, marking moments, more transcription languages and, on Apple Intelligence devices, AI summaries, action items and Ask AI. Plans and prices are shown in the app and on the App Store page, and vary by region. Prices from the US App Store, checked 2026-11-04; they vary by region.
Quick answers
Which iPhones can summarize?
iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or newer, and iPads with an M1 chip or newer, with Apple Intelligence turned on, plus Pro.
Is the summary generated in the cloud?
No. Summaries and action items run on the device with Apple's Foundation Models.
Does it assign to-dos to people?
It lists action items from what was said. It does not label speakers, so confirm who owns each one.
What if my iPhone does not support Apple Intelligence?
Recording and the full transcript still work on any iPhone running iOS 26 or later. AI summaries are unavailable.
